Job PostingDeputy Editor
Sunstone Institute is seeking an experienced deputy editor to help lead our editorial team and shape the journalism we produce. The position will also include the opportunity to produce journalism of your own. If you're an experienced journalist who has grown into editing but doesn't want to leave the field behind, this role was made for you. The place of work is Oslo, Norway.
The Role
Working closely with our journalists, you'll play a central role in developing stories from pitch to publication. You'll be a sounding board for ideas, a sharp editorial eye on drafts, and a steady hand guiding complex investigations across the finish line. This is a hands-on editorial role: you'll be embedded in the work, not above it.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with journalists to develop and refine story ideas and investigations
- Edit copy for clarity, accuracy, structure, and impact
- Help maintain and uphold Sunstone Institute's editorial standards
- Support journalists at all stages of the reporting process
- Work with the Managing Editor to set editorial direction and priorities
- Report and produce your own investigations and stories
Who We're Looking For
You have significant experience in journalism, ideally with a background in investigative or data-driven reporting, and a proven track record as an editor. You lead with generosity and rigour, and you understand that great editing makes journalists better, not just stories cleaner. Full professional proficiency in English is required.
