Alexandra Pires Duro

Alexandra approaches her work as a data scientist with the precision of a professional musician.

Currently completing a degree in Data science to complement her Master’s in Violin, she sees a natural bridge between the two worlds: both require mastery of language, rhythm and the ability to find harmony in complex patterns. Alexandra spent nearly a decade as a professional violinist and teacher, including a "leap of faith" move from Portugal to Canada at age 23 to teach music to at-risk youth. She loves data science because it feeds her curiosity and "organisation obsession", and she finds deep satisfaction in a perfectly structured spreadsheet.

Alexandra spends her time outside Sunstone playing in the Hedmarken Symphony Orchestra, painting and crocheting (most notably, the pink crocheted doughnuts she made for her Sunstone colleagues to throw at each other). She also loves nerding over video games and puzzles, and her long-time companion, Mia, an adopted street cat she remains devoted to despite being "super-allergic".
