Carine Zeier

Carine is the strategist responsible for Sunstone’s financial resilience and for scaling innovative concepts into sustainable parts of the organisation and company structure.

Her career began during the mid-90s .com era in San Francisco, followed by an MBA in Boston and a journey through the global startup landscape, including being part of Norwegian tech successes like FAST. She spent the last 15 years as an entrepreneur and investor in data-driven companies, often serving as a bridge between technical innovation and commercial strategy. She thrives in the exploratory phase of innovation where the path must be carved from scratch, finding balance between strategic growth and creativity.

Carine firmly believes in "data for good," repurposing the commercial and technical skills used in the corporate world to address Sunstone’s mission. An explorer of nature, she recently spent three and a half years living on her sailboat, crossing the Atlantic and the Pacific, and operating it as a citizen science vessel for marine researchers and global seabed-mapping projects. She now moves between life on land and at sea, allowing her to return to an old passion: painting large, messy, mixed-media wooden works.
