Carter Brown

Carter is a geospatial data analyst and the one we turn to for visualising our projects spatially. With a background in Geography and Geospatial Science (GIS), he has always been interested in "the why and the where" of the world.

Carter’s passion for mapping began at age 16 when he tracked the Zika virus outbreak, a project that revealed to him the power of maps to tell important, global stories. A Toronto native and a professional commercial yacht captain, Carter previously sailed 24-meter sailboats along the Australian coast, falling in love with the "underwater jungles" of the Great Barrier Reef.

At Sunstone, Carter values the creative freedom to visualise data in whatever manner best serves the project, usually while wearing his signature white socks.
