JohnJo Devlin has built a reputation as a reporter with a strong interest in the Nordic region. Working with publications such as The Economist, BBC and The Times, his work combines on-the-ground investigation with analytical depth across topics including energy, defense and conservation.
In an era shaped by competing narratives and opinion-led newsrooms, JohnJo is an advocate of firsthand impartial reporting. Raised in London, he began covering Scandinavia in 2019. After tracking wolf hunters in rural Norway, he immersed himself in the region, pursuing stories from the Barents Sea to the Finnish-Russian border.
Beyond the Nordics, JohnJo’s work has taken him to remote Congolese rainforests and deep within the Arctic Circle. Along the way, he’s interviewed tribal leaders, refugees on the Egypt-Gaza border, and senior figures such as Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
JohnJo speaks Norwegian and writes in English, with working knowledge of Danish and Swedish. He remains both cautious and curious about eventually tackling Finnish, a challenge he continues to respectfully postpone.
